Winter Break

Today is the 12th day of "Winter Break." There are 6 days left.

The boys seem to have decided that our front yard is their personal haven. It means freedom, or at least to Ethan the very little freedom that can come from riding one's bike in circles on the driveway. He doesn't seem to mind the tight leash. In fact, he practically begs me to go outside and play on any given day at any given moment just to be rid of the confines of our house. I so don't blame him. Somedays I find myself getting ready to go, only to ask myself once I'm dressed, "Go where?" I haven't even decided at that point, only knowing that "to go" means I'm outta the house. Yippee. So I get it. For Sebbie it doesn't exactly mean much more freedom; crossing the street to the neighbor's house and back isn't exactly thrilling, but he takes it. The other day he confessed that he went around our block. Ooooooh. But I gave him a slightly hard time anyway, just to be sure he doesn't make it a habit. I gotta know where my kids are--period.

So that's where they are at this precise moment. One is on the other's new pogo stick, the other is fixing a pedal that keeps popping off his bike (take note, IH). Earlier we took Incredible Husband his lunch at work, took back our rentals to Blockbuster, and our library books to the bibliotheque. I ended up keeping "A Wrinkle in Time" for our nighttime story, since Sebbie stopped reading it and switched over to the "Wimpy Kid" books.

But this last week of being at home is not going to be all fun and games. There will be mandatory reading, piano, and art time, and they will be forced to help me clean their play room which looks less like a play room than it does a war zone. Oh, and I have tons of laundry to do, and those boys at 4 & 9 can fold laundry better than I could at 14. Sweet!
