Happy, Happy Birthday Baby!

5 years ago today you were born.

I remember it so well--the early morning hour and Daddy and me packing up to go, Daddy feeling scared, me feeling anxious, the sterile lighting of the delivery room, getting an epidural for the first and last time, laughing and relaxing, (thanks, epidural!) Sebbie sitting with Auntie Anna awaiting your arrival, Mom on one side of me and Daddy on the other, Daddy crying when he first saw you enter the world, me holding you for the first time and saying hello, kissing your tiny face, the whole family in the room afterward eating Krispy Kremes that Gramma Tina brought, being in the noisy, cramped recovery room at the hospital, being so thankful to leave, taking you home and stopping on the way to Daddy's dental appointment, (sorry, IH) Loving you, kissing you, telling you it was all going to be ok. And it was. And it is.

You are so special, Mr. Ethan.

I've had 5 wonderful years with you. I'm so thankful for that. I just want 100 more. That's not too much to ask, right?

I hope you have a wonderful day today. I hope you loved the chocolate chip pancakes I made for you and the balloons we surprised you with this morning. I hope they made you feel special. There's more to come. So much more. Can't wait. You'll see.

I love you.

Happy Birthday, Son.

Mommy.

What a loving tribute to your little man...those pics and your words made me tear up! I think b/c I am on the brink of my little man's first b-day and it's got me feeling nostalgic. Well, hope it's a great day! Happy B-day Ethan!
