I am so excited about this year. 2009 brings new possibility. For instance, this year is finally the year I am going to get organized. I mean completely--my home, my car, my to-do's....the list goes on and nearly every part of my life needs an organizational makeover. I can keep wishing for a professional organizational crew to magically pick my house to work on, or I can start doing it myself. I choose the latter, and I am actually motivated and excited about it! I also want this year to be the year I finally get in shape and start exercising and eating less sugar! And eating less sugar is no easy feat.
Really, though, a new year brings a new start. Even though our lives continue from the previous year, and there is no physical sign of a new year, except of course the giant ball dropping and leftover champagne on the kitchen counter the next morning, the sense of a new beginning is in the air, and I must say, it is invigorating! It is only the 5th day of the year 2009, and so I have 360 days to complete my goals. That's a lot of time to make some changes.
Some of my personal resolutions are:
Be more giving--to my husband, to my kids--in terms of time and love. Let it overflow. Let it run down the sides and drip off the table. Let it form puddles all over the floor and not worry about the mopping, only the sweet smell and taste of it. Let the love just ooze...
Get organized--this is a huge one for me, and my house is the main source of inspiration for this one. My beautiful home needs some major love, and the only way I can show it the love it deserves is to clean it. Thoroughly. And just throw out everything I don't need or use. Then it will be light and free and shower me with compliments as I walk about its' rooms...
And finally, exercise/eat less sugar--this is super huge for me, as I can eat a pint of ice cream every night followed by three chocolate chip cookies for dessert. I can--but I don't. However, since I do eat more of this sugary stuff than I should, I am determined to cut back and try making homemade sorbets out of the leftover pulp from my juicing machine. It's pure fruit, and although it's still sweet, there's no added sugar, so it's gotta be better than the CIAO BELLA sorbet I am currently obsessed with.
I have a few more having something to do with photography, scrapbooking, and importing all my family videos, but those are too long and in-depth, and this isn't like a blog or anything.
So that's that. I hope to get started today. My craft room is starting to take shape and I think I'm gonna do some before and after photos to inspire me some more.
Yay for nasty photos of cluttered rooms that provide inspiration!
