Hot town, summer in the city...

...and both kids are officially outta school!

Sebbie said goodbye to his 3rd grade mates and hello to a long awaited summer. I'm so proud of him and how well he's done this year. He's come such a long way, especially in the reading department. His school participates in the Accelerated Reader program and he really took off with that at the end of the year. He went way beyond the points needed, because now he's finally reached a point of enthusiasm for reading. Yes! A fellow classmate watched him pull out book 10 of "A Series of Unfortunate Events" to read 4 days prior to the last day and bet Sebbie he wouldn't finish it. Like, OMG--don't you know who you're talking to, little missy? He showed her - but of course not in the "told you so" kind of way. He's way too cool for that.

His teacher, Mrs. M, was amazing and really liked Sebastian. I'm so glad he lucked out and got to be in her class. Not all teachers are created equally, and Mrs. M was one of the great ones.

So now I have a full house every day, and I'm excited about it. I have so many plans for the summer, I can't wait to get started! But first -  I need to get organized.

I have a mini summer school planned with yours truly as Miss Nelson, or her alter ego, depending on the behavior of the little darlings. I'll be covering art, art history, math, vocabulary, and teaching Ethan to read. He's doing so well with that--I think he'll be reading independently in the next month or so. Plus we've got trips to museums, water parks, ice-cream making, swimming, helping mama paint, and our vacations! I'm so excited! I'm so excited, I'm so....scared!

Just kidding on the above. Couldn't help but think of Jessie Spano as I typed that. (kinda mean, especially when the message was supposed to be all positive and shiz. Owell--too good not to make fun of.)

Here's to a hot, kick-ass summer with the coolest kids around!
