Eats, Sleeps, and Breathes

Sebbie has always been a "superhero" kind of kid with Spiderman being his hero of choice since he was 3 years old. No one could hold a torch to Peter Parker, but somehow, someway, some hero has managed to surpass the web crawler this past year.

Wolverine is the man right now and Sebbie knows exactly why he likes him so much. Ask him and he'll tell you that 1.) "He's cool." OK, listen up. In case you didn't know, Logan is a badass. I can't help it if the boy can see that--he oozes coolness. He wears a leather jacket and drives a motorcycle---that look screams cool to my son. Yikes. Maybe not a good thing? Whatevs. He's 9 and has really good coolness radar.  2.) "His bones are made with adamantium which is the strongest substance on (comic) Earth!" Oh really, Sebbie...and what about diamonds, huh?? Not so smart now, are we??? And 3.) "He is just." My favorite reason, because Sebbie can see that Logan is a tortured soul, but nonetheless tries to do the right thing. Not that killing is ever the right thing, and believe me, we have that talk. But for the fantasy world of vigilante superheroes, he's one good guy.

So because Wolverine is so damn cool, and because my boy is 50 times cooler than that--he put an old costume with built-in muscles under his tshirt to make it look more "realistic." I must admit, I was impressed at his ingenuity.

This is his "serious" pose. In case you couldn't tell. I'm good for stuff like that, thanks.

The blurred little girl in the background is clearly shocked at the enormous arms of the amazing superhero posing for the photographer in her backyard. I certainly was.

And I quote,
"Wait Mommy! The costume underneath is showing!"

Oh pish-tosh. The elbows are showing!

(Thank you to Sebastian who happily participated in this print documentary about a little boy who is still just that. I love your imagination and your laughter
I love your smile. I unabashedly love you to the moon and back--infinity to the infinity power--and so much that when I spread my arms wide to show you how much I love you my hands not only touch behind my back, they overlap.)

Something like that.
