I had the best Sunday ever. From the surface, there wasn't anything remarkable about the day. We spent a lazy morning on the patio eating Paradise Bakery muffins and reading the paper. I couldn't decide if I was cold or not, but went with the latter, and enjoyed the cool breeze. Later, we spent an hour at a newly discovered park playing with the kids. We kicked ourselves for not being prepared with burgers and all the fixins - next time we said. Definitely.
We did some shopping at Trader Joe's, and I just had to go to my favorite bookstore next door, Changing Hands. So Bobby bought me and Ethan a new book (mine was Sarah's Key and Ethan got a new Junie B.) since I can't leave there without one, and Sebbie left with a new rubber snake.
We stopped off at Yogurtland on the way home where I decided I would never again choose any chocolate flavored yogurt and stick with my usual tart pineapple or coconut, instead. But it was still good, and the kids devoured theirs like kids do. Who am I kidding? So did I.
Came home, got comfy-cozy, opened my book and read.
And read.
And read.
I watched Clementine from my couch potato viewpoint have a tea party with her daddy before bathtime and she was the quintessential hostess. She was beautiful, talking with her daddy in her limited vocabulary, pouring him innumerable cups of hot, apple-cinnamon tea. Each sip he took required another refill. She seemed to fuss over her guest, and when I joined in, fussed over me, too.
It was a little surreal. I was having a "tea party" with my daughter. I think I've been waiting for this for.....oh, say......ALL MY LIFE....
And there I was.
Bobby made dinner (seems to be the norm around here lately, hmmm....) and let me be. He even stayed up 'til midnight flipping through channels not speaking a word to me because he knew how engrossed I was in my book (he did ask me to watch this one part in The Jerk, but it was like 2 minutes, so really doesn't count). He was so tired but knew I wanted his company, his presence.
Unremarkable day? Absolutely.
And absolutely perfect.
