It's late--really late, and I've been sitting on the computer checking out origami sites. Everyone's asleep, including JD, and here I am trying to learn how to make a paper crane at 11:20 at night. The thing is, I really want to make paper cranes. I want to make a bunch of really cute colored ones and hang them over Miss C's bed. I even want to make giant ones and hang them from my living room ceiling, and hear everyone say how ridiculous it is to hang giant paper cranes in one's living area, and secretly they'll love it, and wish they had thought of hanging giant paper cranes in their living room to entertain their guests.
But anyway, back to my origami. I bought a beginner's set at Michael's the other day, flipped through the instruction book, and tried making the crane right away. It was clearly the most difficult object to make, being on the last page of the booklet, but I didn't care--it's folded paper--I could do it! So I tried....and tried. And I even tried again. I guess it wasn't as easy as I thought. I was so frustrated, I went on youtube, watched a tutorial and...voila! A paper crane was created out of my own two hands. ;-)
So I made two small cranes--very cute, and I can even make their wings flap! I'll post pics later.
BUT--and this is the whole reason for this post--upon searching for origami flowers and such, I came across a most amazing site! His art is crazy fabulous! All of his work is done using one piece of paper, glue, and scissors. So brilliant. And I love how he describes his art.
I am so inspired!
