I need to open an awesome vintage store--stat!

I can't believe that in this huge metropolitan city there aren't any good vintage clothing stores. Ethan, Miss C, and I met up with my mom and Dabada today looking for some 80's duds in Central Phoenix. I referred back to my trusty "New Times Best Of" guide online, and was pointed in the direction of a shop called "Mint Vintage."

This was the best vintage clothing store in Phoenix? There was one long rack against a wall that held miscellaneous frocks from mostly the 60's and 70's, and about 4 other smaller racks that held a few more items. And that was it.

So off I went to find another vintage store called "Travel Back in Time." With a name like that, there had to be some 80's gems inside. What I found upon entering were racks and racks stuffed with dresses and blouses from all decades, not in any particular order, and extremely hard to shuffle through, especially with Miss C strapped to my front. I did manage to find a really cute '87/'88 prom dress that I'm thinking may look awesome with some black fishnets and pink pumps. I wasn't really planning on going down the trashy Madonna wannabe 80's look, though. I really wanted to go for "Preppie rich girl with scrunched ribbed socks that throws house parties when daddy's in Europe" or "Working Girl-esque Wall Street yuppie that pretends to like caviar at company parties but secretly goes home and pigs out on White Castle."

But--with my options limited as they are, it seems I may have to go with TMW80'sL.

I'm okay with that, because what I'm really excited more than the clothing is the great makeup I get to create that night. Well that and flat ironing Ethan's hair...but that's deserving of a whole other post on a whole other night.

ta ta for now...
