What are your middle names?
Maria and Ivan. Which could mean that we're either 2 latino kids or an old bickering couple fresh off the boat from Moscow. You decide.
How long have you been together?
How long have you been together?
6 and 1/2 years. We officially started dating in early-mid September, 2002.
How long did you know each other before you started dating?
We met in 2000. Or was it 2001? I can never remember the year. I do know that I got into a fist-fight with some drunk blonde girl the night we met, and my favorite cowboy hat (it was from Guess, ok?? And it was the year 2000---they were in.) was ripped off my head and smashed up and I was totally pissed about that. Oh, and apparently I tried to kiss him that night, which I only half-recall, because it was Cinco de Mayo, and there was like, cerveza everywhere.
Who asked whom out?
Who asked whom out?
Well, when we met for the second time in 2002, we went out with a mutual friend. I basically told mutual friend that Bobby was so cute with his big brown eyes and perfect teeth, and I had to see him again. He passed on the info, Bobby called me at work, and we set up our first date from there.
How old are each of you?
28 and 39. Put it this way, when I was 7 -years-old, I went to my eldest sister Anna's high school graduation. Guess who else was graduating that year at the same high school? Yep, and I love telling that story, especially around all his other old friends.
Whose siblings do you see the most?
Whose siblings do you see the most?
This question is slightly funny to me, since we ALWAYS see mine, but it's not my fault. I have one extra sibling than him, they all live in town, and there's a bazillion cousins between all our kids, so it just makes sense that we'd see them more.
Which situation is the hardest on you as a couple?
Which situation is the hardest on you as a couple?
Work. His. It's still so new, and the economy sucks bigtime, so he's there a lot trying to figure out ways to "make it work." I completely respect what he has to do, but I long for normal hours and more family time. I just do.
Did you go to the same school?
High school, yes. But again, I went like, 7 years after he'd already graduated.
Are you from the same home town?
Are you from the same home town?
Nope--I'm from Phoenix, he's from Chicago. And he still likes to take off his shirt in freezing ass weather just because it reminds him of his childhood in the windy city.
Who is smarter?
Who is smarter?
I always say he is, because it's ridiculous what this guy knows.
Who is the most sensitive?
Who is the most sensitive?
50/50. But I'm more likely to show it and get all offended and stuff.
Where do you eat out most as a couple?
Where do you eat out most as a couple?
Since it's been 50 years since we've done this on a regular basis, I'll have to dig deep....
I'd say Pizzeria Bianco was always a favorite, even though I'd get drunk after waiting for three hours at the wine bar next door for a table. But, at least now we've got a few extra stories to tell, and it's always fun to talk about your drunk, shameful incidents at family gatherings.
Where is the furthest you two have traveled together as a couple?
Rome or Venice. Not sure on the exact mile difference.
Who has the craziest exes?
Who has the craziest exes?
Bobby by a landslide.
Who has the worst temper?
Who has the worst temper?
I do, but only because he has none.
Who does the cooking?
Who does the cooking?
Both. But my meals feed us during the week, while his usually feed us on weekends. His are usually more exciting, too. Like, he'll open up a cookbook and get all inspired and make a crazy delicious Top-Chef meal. I'm like, thanks. How can my chicken, brown rice and veggies get anyone excited anymore after that?
Who is the neat-freak?
Who is the neat-freak?
What's that?
Who is more stubborn?
That would be me.
Who hogs the bed?
I kick him out of the bed so Clemmie and I can have more room, does that count?
Who wakes up earlier?
Who wakes up earlier?
He does. But he HAS to, why would I get up early for no good reason?
Where was your first date?
Ra Sushi. It was sweet and awkward. I laughed at all his jokes, and his smile made me nervous. Those perfect teeth! We went to a little lounge afterward, and when the night was over, I kissed him by his car. I got teased about that kiss for years after it happened. Aren't you supposed to put your hands all over the guys face all intense-like just as Mr. Darcy did in Pride & Prejudice?
Who is more jealous?
uhhh....
How long did it take to get serious?
How long did it take to get serious?
Not long. We knew we wanted to be together. He proposed after 7 months!
Who eats more?
Who eats more?
That would be me...again. He's the kind of guy that can go to some kind of outdoor festival and not eat a thing, especially if he's had lunch. I'm like, where's the ice cream? Ooh....chocolate covered bananas! Wanna share some kettle korn with me?
Who does the laundry?
Who does the laundry?
The other 1/2 of my life? Me and laundry--we're tight.
Who's better with the computer?
Who's better with the computer?
My man. I'm getting better, but not much.
Who drives when you are together?
Who drives when you are together?
50/50. But for road trips--it's him during the day and me at night. Cause he's old, yunno?
