Needy with a side of guilt

This Saturday was the day I had been dreading for the past two weeks.

I had so much to do, and normally that wouldn't have been a big deal AT ALL, except that Incredible Husband wasn't going to be around to help me out with any of it. Sebbie had a double-header in the morning (it was over 100 degrees this weekend, FYI) and it was our turn to bring snacks which meant stopping for ice on the way. Then, there was the trophy ceremony afterwards at Peter Piper, a kindergarten placement test for ET, Pop Warner registration, and just how the heck was I supposed to sneak in a nap for Miss C during all of this? So I begged, I pleaded, I even resorted to bribery to get him to stay home this weekend to help, but to no avail.

Honestly, it's not like he went on a fishing trip or played 18 holes with some buddies--he had to work! Like, could I be any less understanding? He had a Grand Opening to tend to for Pete's Sake! (All of this should have entered my head a little sooner than today, but what're you gonna do?)

My awesome powers of persuasion weren't awesome enough to keep the man home, but you know what? The day came and went and I realized that not only can I totally figure out a day like that on my own, but that I'm more self-reliant than I thought. More than anything, I love the idea of having my IH around to "help me." I totally play up the damsel in distress thing way more than I actually am one.

Me now. My brows are way overplucked, but I look and feel damn good.

Motherinlaw ended up coming over and watched Clemmie for a few hours so she could nap. I rescheduled the Pop Warner registration, and all ended just dandy. IH came home and told me all about the great opening weekend, and I no longer felt like giving him the silent treatment for leaving helpless me all alone to fend for myself and our children.

Instead I just wanted to kiss him.

And so I did.

I so know how you feel. My Marc-a-Roni is my best side kick... I just could not do it without him... Well... I can but I sure like him around! Isn't it wonderful to have a best friend! I'm glad you made it through the day!
