Vacation!

We took our annual trek up to Flagstaff the weekend of the 4th, and boy-oh-boy was it desperately needed! Really, I just needed Bobby with us--for him to be off work for an entire week was heaven. I need 3 months a year. That's it. That's not too much to ask, right?

My brother Roy and his girls, Shaela and Panda, stayed with us for the first few days, even exploring the amazing lava tubes with us. (Note to self: upon entering a 42 degree cave be sure to wear a jacket, gloves, and bring 1 flashlight per person because it is pitch black!) We always have fun with them and were so glad they joined us again this year.

We're most likely not doing our San Diego trip this year, and although I'm bummed because we haven't missed it for 6 years, Flagstaff was a great respite from this disgusting Arizona weather we're having!

So - ready for picture overload?

If you get bored just grab a pint of Haagen Dazs and chill out. Pictures are FUN.

Watching the 4th of July parade that the entire town seems to go to!!

We went to the Lowell Observatory to kill time before we could check-in at the house. This is the inside of the observatory. They found the planet Pluto here! How cool is that? (And yes--it is and will always be a planet.)

Outside Lowell's mausoleum

My brother and Shaela at the Arts & Crafts festival. We chilled on the grass for a long time while the boys played on the jumpers.

I love downtown Flag. There's always live music somewhere - I told Bobby we gotta go back for a weekend - just the 2 of us.

We celebrated Shaela's 14th birthday the weekend of the 4, so I made her a flag cake with pretend candles to blow out. Then she sweetly blew them out! What a good girl!

Leaving the lava tubes. It was cold, it was dark, but it was fun and adventurous! Sebastian wanted to go back the next day and do it all over again! I have a feeling we'll be back next year!
(Even Clemmie went! She didn't make a peep!)

Me and my boy eating at Dara Thai. I love that place. LOVE.

Chopsticks = Wolverine

With lovely Clementine in the field. She must've given me 20 kisses out there.

We decided to take the boys fishing. Since it was their first time there was a lot of questions, so left that to daddy and Clemmie and I went for a walk along the bank.

...And I got this photo of her.
I swear, she's magic.

The view from Upper Lake Mary to Lower Lake Mary. Not much of a lake, anymore!

My Honey/Love/Bobby Sox/Incredible Husband with a week's worth of stubble.
Kisses bobby, muah!!

And that was my last week. It was fun, but I'm glad to be home!

It's sooo relaxing to be able to just get away from everything and spend it with the family. Glad you had a wonderful time. We are leaving on our vacation here in a couple days--can't wait!!
