I let Sebbie quit.
I feel incredibly sad about my decision, but Bobby said something that resonated with me.
"Why would you make your kid do something he clearly doesn't want to do?"
Well,
That could go two ways.
1: He'll thank me for it in 10 years when he's no longer lazy about practicing and thankful for the wonderful opportunity I bestowed upon him at the tender age of 9, when musical ability comes at such a rapid pace.
2: He'll resent me for it in just a couple of years if not sooner, and never play for fun again.
So, since I am not Miss Cleo, I am letting him off the hook. He has football right now, and I think one extracurricular is enough. He needs more down-time and less time being stressed about "practicing".
As much as I want him to play Elton for me, I am going to wait until he asks me to go back.
And if he never does? Then that's ok, too.
